Try finding a home game you can attend. The lessons learned playing in person are invaluable. Some of the lessons do not apply to the online world, but important ones like pot odds on the fly do.

Plus, you get to get away from the significant other for a couple of hours.

Home games are fun but...

I play home games, casino games, & online and there are differences. My home games are with friends and family and involves drinking and big ego's to be smashed but there is a lot of action! Casino's have bigger buy-ins more rake and xtra costs involved (dang BJ tables)! I think good old play $ is the best way to learn the cards. Home games are a good way to practice for the Casino though.

:D   Stay away from those BJ tables, there are too many around and

are much too tempting!!     I only mildly agree re playing the fun

money poker.  Initially, it's a good learning tool, but, strictly for first

timers.  After that, play money is taken much too lightly and one loses

the intensity and importance of making crucial decisions.  The next step,

of course, is to start playing freerolls, where one actually has something

to gain, and still at no risk.

I love having my wife at the table with me when we go to AC. It'd be better if she actually started playing b/c I think she's good enough to do well.

I've been winning in freerolls, losing in ring games.. At what point do you start winning in both? I'm reading and learning.. but how long does it take?
