A few days ago I came in second in a bounty tourny, but along the way I won a $300 buy-in bounty. I used that ticket on Friday.
During the tourny I ran into numerous players I know and had some pleasant chats with them as I made my way to the final table.
During the game I was seated next to 'jayc1985' who constintly berated all the players he faced and kept bemoaning how he was the best player playing. Needless to say I was very happy to be facing him heads up as I had watched him play for the last hour or so. I had a 2:1 chip lead heading into heads up as we played. He finally went all in and I called his bluff (k/4 vs. a/j) and of course he hit 2 pair so our positions became reversed. But I kept at him and slow played rockets which turned into a boat to regain the chip lead, and didnt look back from there. First was worth $120, pretty sweet considering I won the buy in.
I gotta say after hearing him say how great a player he was for an hour then beating his sorry ass has made my night.
Yesterday I won the $1000 gareenteed. There were 49 entrants.
I started off playing poorly going down to 400 and change in chips but was patient and waited for my hands and climbed my way back up. With 12 people left I took out a buddy with pocket eights and he gave me specific instructions to win the tourny using his chips. I did just that. When I got to the final table there were some of the nicest players I have played against, always wishing each other good luck and saying nice hand, when there was one or even nice lay down for a good fold.
By the time heads up came around I had lost the chip lead and was down by about 15k in chips. I then tried to steal the blinds with k/9 and had my bluff called with k/10. I got real lucky and rivered him hitting my nine and on the next hand he went all in with q/8 which I called with my a/9 to win the tourny.
Its been a good 2 days for me, winning the $300 gtd on Firday for $120 and then todays $1000 for $400.
