Journaling your play and players
« on: July 04, 2008, 08:09:21 PM »
I will journal the hands I am dealt.  Keep track of other players and the cards they show, how they bet.  I also date the observations (people change).

Even track my moods, since there are time I lose focus.   I believe it helps my play and concentration.

Use those notes to journal general play.  Don't pass judgement immediately.  Wait until you see that player again, read the note, and look for the pattern.  But know this - even bad players catch good cards, and then you may be setting a trap on your self.

Whats the format you use? How do you organize your entries?
An example of your system would be helpful
We could use it to help create our own

Sounds like a very good plan which obviously will help in the long run.  However, I would think it to be a lot of work and very time consuming.  Not being a hardcore poker player myself, I do not track players.  Also, playing at many sites and mostly in inconsequential games, it is not worth my while to bother.  I do, however, wish you the best of luck with this play tracking system.
