Chat during play
« on: November 02, 2005, 02:08:52 PM »
I thoughtI would post this again because I got a pm from someone that thought I was being rude last night by not speaking to them in chat during the AP tourny.

I for one do not play with my chat on... if there is no option to turn chat off then I look at the "stats" screen instead.

This is not done to offend anyone, it just helps me concentrate on my game instead of table talk... I actually folded AA one time because I was to busy chating away and didnt see my hand in time, and yes an A flopped.. that was my deciding point to the no chat rule.

GOOD LUCK to ALL!!  8)

So that's why you didn't respond to me in the Freeroll on Tuesday   .

No offence taken, I figured as much.

At least I got busted out by the tourny winner. Big stack has pocket 5's, I have AQ board comes Q 5 X rainbow, I keep betting of course and he keeps raising. Well you can guess the rest I lost. Still hard to put anybody on a low pocket pair hitting trips.

Oh well.

That always happens to me too... I have the worst timing to get top pair with nothing else showing for the other players.  The worst is when you are a mid stack and with a nice pair.. JJ, QQ, KK, and the flop comes with your card, the other player goes all-in, you call with your set, only to be beat by a one card higher set because when you had QQ he had KK !

Why keep your chat off?  Talking is part of the game.  During a poker game, you meet new people and get tells by talking to people.  I think online  poker takes away alot of aspects of poker already, so why take even more away from the game.

I usually chat, but sometimes I also turn the chat off especially when there are a couple morons at the table which seems to be quite often anymore if you aren't in a forum tourney.

I am like Don, I keep the chat off if possible. I found myself getting involved in what was going on in the chat and not thinking about the game. It is just easier without it.

When someone doesn't talk to me I usually think they're just playing in several games and didn't see what I said lol.

I don,t want anyone thinking I,m rude.  But sites like Trident are so fast and you flip to another site snd come back and miss things. Also chat boards run so fast ? You can,t pause the chat screen long enogh to read anything. Maybe i,m setting my chat options wrong. I guess i could remove all the bet/call msgs and details ???            Rob
