in a word, patience.  Wait for the good hands, pick your spot, bet with aggresion with a real good hand and Hope for the best.

I agree with Tom, patience is the one of the most important things to have. The best advice I think would be to pick your spots carefully. If you are getting low and have to make a move try to move in late position so you can have information on what some of the cards people hold are. Get information, get information, get information. Try to bet to get information. I usually bet to find out which flops are going to be the least contested. When you dont have good hands betting to find the least contested flops so you can steal them is a great strategy.

Agree completely with the two replies above.  Key word is PATIENCE followed by discipline.  Take your time, don't necessarily wait too long for the very best hands, but, when they do come don't get too greedy with the high bets.  Be patient and disciplined and the results will come, favourably for you.
