Tonight I went up against 2,500 players in a $250 7-stud PL game on Gutshot poker. Several times early I threw all my chips in in disgust, ready to leave. They kept pulling me back in. 40 places paid. When it got down to 150 players left, I got interested. Played tight-aggressive, the way I like to play. Didn't start with anything less than a decent pair. And they started coming. Before I knew it I was up to 20th place, hanging tough. We got down to the bubble, and I was still in it. Took a couple bad hits and I was scraping bottom. Dangling in 35th place. Hanging in, hanging in, hanging in. Bubble was closing in on me. Then I took down 3 hands in a row with starting 9's, starting K's and starting A's. Up to 14th place. And just watching others busting out around me. Got down to the final table of 8. Took a really bad hit and went down to 8th place with 7,700 in chips left. Then I tripled up. Then I quadrupled up. Then I tripled up again. Suddenly, I'm chip leader. I hung in. And, finally, I won my biggest tourny yet. Earned $41.43 for the effort. That came out to more than $10/hr for the effort. What a buzz!!!!!
