yeah bad beats happen and I'm sure I will post more then my share ..
saw a guy rant from out side the room he  flopped str8 but the flop gave the other guy 2 pair and then got his full boat on the turn ....this is not a bad beat you were both on draw speculation hands ....he got one card luckier then you did in the community ......now if say you had queens and some fool goes in against you with 2 8 offsuite and gets runner runner of 2 8 then this is a bad beat ....he got lucky and had no business in the hand ....whine when its justified not just because you got beat...

EXACTLY !!!!

I dont know how many times I have seen people complain of a "bad beat" when they were just playing bad cards and got busted!

I understand limping in with bad cards when there are 6 players in already, then you hit that 3 9 offsuit with a 3 9 6 on the flop, now your excited, you bet big, the guy with AA of course calls, Ace comes on the turn, you bet big and get reraised by the set of aces, you call thinking he paired up, 10 on the river... you think your golden and push hard, AA pushes back and puts you all in, you call and LOSE!!!

This is not a "BAD BEAT"

Yet you cry and whine and complain of a bad beat..... you limped in trying to get lucky... and it backfired!

Remember....... THE NUTS... changes from flop to turn to river.
If you cant handle a loss, then dont play the game!

Yes there are a lot of players that use the term when it should't be used.

ak vs q10 spades:
FLOP:  AS KS AD
TURN:  AS KS AD JS
RIVER:  doesn't matter

Anytime a Fullhouse is beat I consider it a bad beat... BUT... in most casino's a bad beat is FOUR of a kind beat by a better hand, either a better four of a kind or a str8 flush.

OK, as of NOW, any hand that beats MY hand..... is a BAD BEAT

What a freakin BAD day of poker I had.... cant even start to tell you all how many games I lost.

It all started last night in my garage game... from 7 players we were down to 4... I had a Q10 and the SB (and the SMALL stack) so I limped in... Q comes on flop with all under cards, no str8 draw, no flush draw, only 2 of us in the hand..... other guy makes a feeler bet... I raise of course with my top pair and decent kicker... he calls.... Q comes on the turn.... SWEET !!!  He checks.. I bet pot... he raises... I say HA.. ALL IN !! Hesitation... I feel secure in my WIN now... he calls.... we flip um, he has Q5 against my Q10 (no 5 on board) I know I have this one now, and I will be back in the game big time....    Do I need to tell you what the river was???

Payback for me sucking out about 5 str8s

Next time it is ALL ME  8)  8)

When I make a bonehead play or a clear mistake - win or lose that is  a bad beat.  When another player makes a bonehead move  or bad play and I lose that is poker.  If I learn from any of these situations then I win.

Cards breaking for or against me - that is poker.  I had a guy whining the other night in the toruney - if he had calculate the pot odds, my odds, our relative position, and our relative stacks he would have know it was a good play.  To the other player - yes  it was a bonehead move - playing too many tourneys at once - yes I got lucky.
