This is how my poker life is going right now.
1st hand - I'm in the BB w/ 87 diamonds.
One guy raises to 40 (BB is 20) so I make the call. The flop comes 5h 7h 5d. I bet 40 and the guy who played ahead of me raises to 80. I re-raise him to 160 and he goes all in.
Now I've played with this guy before and I know that he hasn't caught any piece of this flop he is either (a) chasing the flush, or (b) hoping to chase me from the pot. If he had anything he'd have called my raise and played into me on the turn.
I call - he flips over Qh9h.
Just so we're clear. There is a pair of 5's and a 7 on the board. I reraised into his raise - meaning that I am clearly representing either a 7, a 5 or both. He goes all in with 4 to a flush and a Q high meaning that he doesn't even have the nut flush hand.
Naturally the turn card is a heart and I am knocked out on the first hand.
The reason this drove me so crazy is that earlier in the day I'm playing against a similar table and I have 6h5h and the flop comes 3d 7h 8h meaning that on the flop I've got a flush draw, a straight draw, and a flush straight draw.
I call down to the river no straight card or flush card comes at all and I'm knocked out again.
Why is it that when I chase - I lose. But when I have the best hand and someone else chases I lose.
This is one of the worst and most aggrevating stretches I've gone through in poker and it's driving me crazy.
