So I register for a 9 person sit and go $5+.50 tourney. I was in 2nd place with about an 1 1/2 hours gone. I was dealt an A 10 suited. I called the blinds, but was raised by another player. 1 other person called him so going into the turn their were 3 of us. The turn produced:
A K 10
At this point I am thinking about the story that is going to be told about how I knocked 2 folks out with one hand. Anyway I bet and am called by player1 and player2 raises. So I call and so does player1. The turn produces a
10
and I start salivating. I bet and am called by player1, but player2 raises. OK, here is where the critical thinking goes haywire. I am so caught up on having a fullhouse I don't take my normal time to evaluate what is happening. I immediately raise, player1 folds and player2 raises me back. There is now no critical thinking happening on the poker side of my brain. I re-raise him and he calls. Here comes 5th street and it's a
K
So now we have a table that reads:
A K 10 10 K
and yours truly was holding an A 10. So I had the NUTZ with a FH of
10's over A's. We ended up both going all in an when the cards were shown your's truly felt like a complete idiot. Can you guess what player2 had? Yep he was holding
A K
So he won with a FH og K's over A's.
Again I cannot stress enough to always take your time and evaluate why someone is betting the way they are. That should have been a BIG tell to me.
What is it that Mr. Brunson says...TH is a game learned quickly, but mastered over a lifetime. He is correct.
Thanks for reading this. Not to totally depress you but you will not get the time spent reading this back.
