I was playing in the PS 50 K gauranteed all this tourney fun has me thinking.. what is the correct way to play a rebuy.
Lets assume it costs $2 +0.25 for your first 1500 chips.
If you have 1500 chips or lower you can rebuy for another $2
(so, if you like you can just buy in with a double stack)
unlimited rebuys up until the first break
at the first break, you can add on 2000 chips for $2
Lets also assume that most players buy a single stack, and a good number of them are rebuying.
So,
my questions
1) Should I buy in with a double stack
2) if I am stacked should I rebuy (1 or 2 stacks)
3) If I cop a hit (down to say 500 chips) should I rebuy then, or try to double up as a short stack
4) Should I open my shoving range in the rebuy period
5) when should I add on (ie, always, only when short stacked, only when avereage stacked)
?
There seems to be a lot of money being pumped into these tourneys by poor players who just keep rebuying (one guy at my table last night was playing absolutely terribly, and rebought at least 5 times, before losing about 5 hands after the rebuy period ended)
this = good money to be made....
I ended up taking nineteenth and won about 150 minus 6.60 buyin
What do you guys think?
Has anyone written about this?

When I play rebuys I try to take the money from all rebuyers... there are a lot of players that play with almost any hand during the rebuy period... time for us to make a good stack.
Save your rebuys, if you get a bad beat you start again.
-
I agree with the last post the Ruby period is a time to build a stack ppl tend to play alot looser at this time. Save your Ruby for a bad beat. The more money you put in requires you to do that much better in the end.
At add on time if your not one of the leaders its probably not a bad idea, most of the smaller stacks will be adding on. So you will wanna look at this and see where you will rank if you don't add on Then make a decision.
Good Luck

I agree with the above replies. Also, when it's time for the final re-buy/add on, you must assess your financial game finish with the stack you have, compared with the remaining stacks. If the odds are okay with what you have, then you don't need to spend more of your own cash.
-
Yeah I have been do okay in 50K usually get in the money . I generally don't buy in double stack but at the end of the rebuy period I usually get a double stack add on for same price. I was just pondering stratagies.

thanks for all the input guys.

You're most welcome!! Questions and opinions, coupled with well thought-through responses are what make a good forum. Let's not be afraid to ask questions, no matter how trivial you think it may be. Without questions we will never have answers. WOW!!!!!!

also trying to liven it up here to nobodies chatty. can't let that happen I need conversion.

Hey 'Tea'. You must be a social extrovert who likes and craves companionship. I, on the other hand, am an introvert and have a basic mistrust of human beings, lol.
-
I really don't trust people my motto screw me once shame on you screw me twice shame on me. LOL
-
That's a fairly good and widespread motto. However, doesn't it depend on how much you like and enjoy getting 'screwed'?? ;D
-
Nobody really screws me I try not to give to many chances. I feel I am a pretty good judge of character and use that six sense to not give people chance that would try a screw me.
-
Hey 'Tea'. I was being facetious. From the comments you have made to date, I am sure you are a 'good judge of character'.
-
What a good chat!!
Trust should always be given for free... it will depend on the actions someone do to see if its lost or build stronger.
-
You must be a happy-go-lucky type of person to easily trust anyone. I'm sorry to disagree with you to a certain point. Trust is not something to be easily given or accepted, trust must be earned.
-
Sure everyone has its point of view as everyone has different experiences about each subject.
What I mean is that if trust could be measured, lets say from 0 to 100... everyone deserves the first 10 points as handicap... some may receive less some more... and then it builds up or goes down to completely mistrust someone.
The way we act with others is the way others will act with us.
-
Hey Giraug. You hit it on the nail, dead on!! Does this sound familiar: "Do unto others as they would to you".
-
lol
this is turning more into a philosophical subject...
someone said: "dont think what your country can do for you... think what you can do for your country"
so what is first.. the egg or the chicken?
should we act as others would do... or should we act as we think trying that others will act as we do...
-
i am trying to express myself as better as I can, as English is my 2nd language.... its sometimes very hard to write and let me understand easily
-
Your written english is fine. And no more philosiphying from me, at least not in this thread (lol). By the way, what is your primary language. I am trilingual and speak and understand a little of a couple others. As I always, I speak many languages but none well (lol).
-
my primary language is spanish.
-
He has a point I think you have to put yourself out there to some degree you will always get more out of life that way. You can miss out on good things. Yes there are gonna be times that you will get screwed but more times than not you will benefit.
